For the benefit of the uninitiated, a bloodstock agent is an independent professional who is available to advise and assist a client, for an agreed fee, in all matters connected with thoroughbred racing and breeding.

Bloodstock agents are able to provide a wide range of services including:

• Attendance at all major international sales.
• Advice on purchase of stock, particularly with regard to conformation and pedigree.
• Stud management and mating plans.
• Valuations, insurance, pedigree production etc.
• Liaison with trainers, representing clients at race meetings, and regular reporting on clients’ horses.
• Advising on sale of clients stock privately or at auction.

Many clients have established long term relationships with their agent, particularly if they are frequently overseas.
